Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy

This policy sets out our commitment to safeguarding all children, young people, and vulnerable adults who use our services, including our AI-powered learning platform, workshops, and training programmes.

1. Scope

This policy applies to:
  • students
  • teachers and institutional staff
  • parents and guardians
  • contractors and partners
  • all digital and in-person educational services

2. Our Commitment

We are committed to:
  • creating a safe and supportive learning environment
  • protecting children from harm, abuse, exploitation, and unsafe digital interactions
  • ensuring AI tools operate in a responsible and child-safe manner
  • working collaboratively with educational institutions on safeguarding matters

3. Roles and Responsibilities

4.1 Educational institutions are the primary safeguarding authorities for students.
4.2 The Provider supports institutions by:
  • operating safety filters and AI moderation tools
  • monitoring for prohibited behaviour
  • responding to safeguarding concerns
  • providing guidance on safe use

4. Safe Use of AI & Digital Tools

We implement reasonable measures to ensure AI-generated content is appropriate for minors, including:
  • filtering harmful or inappropriate outputs
  • monitoring patterns of unsafe use
  • restricting high-risk functionality
  • enabling institutional oversight and review

AI tools are designed to produce age and country-restricted outputs; however, supervision is recommended.

5. Reporting Concerns

Safeguarding concerns should be raised with:
  • the institution’s designated safeguarding lead (DSL)
  • and, where appropriate, the Provider at contacts@oaoe.co.uk

6. Prohibited Conduct

Users must not upload, generate, or engage in:
  • harmful, abusive, discriminatory, sexual, or violent content
  • harassment or bullying
  • attempts to bypass safety mechanisms
  • sharing of sensitive personal data of minors

7. Data Protection & Privacy

Children’s data is handled in accordance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Student data is processed only for educational and safeguarding purposes.

8. Training & Support

We support institutions through:
  • AI literacy and safe use training
  • teacher professional development
  • documentation and guidance on safeguarding practices

9. Policy Review

This policy is reviewed annually or when required by regulatory changes.
